Ireland has quite a few landmarks. Most of them being famous for their history. Here are two of my personal favourites that you should consider visiting.
- The Giant's Causeway: The Giant's Causeway is located in county Antrin in Northern Ireland. The believed story of the Giant's Causeway is that the Irish giant Fionn mac Cumhaill from the Fenian Cycle of Gaelic mythology, was challenged to a fight by the Scottish giant Benandonner. Fionn accepted the challenge and built the causeway across the North Channel so that the two giants could meet. A jagged promontory of neatly packed columns of hexagonal basalt rocks created some 6 million years ago by a flow of basaltic lava.
- The Cliffs of Moher: The Cliffs of Moher are located in county Clare. It is believed the cliffs are over 320 million years old, dating back to when Ireland's ancient rivers laid down sediments on the seabed to form the rocks of the Cliffs of Moher: sandstone, siltstone and shale. The movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) was filmed here.
